Cozy sims that fit a five-minute break
Not every game needs to demand your full attention. Some of my favourite mobile experiences are the ones I check on for a couple of minutes and then put away, calm rather than wired.
Garden of Gears nails this. You wind up a few clockwork plants, tweak a gear or two, and close the app knowing everything ticks along on its own. There's no punishment for stepping away, which is exactly what a cozy sim should offer.
The trap a lot of these games fall into is sneaking in timers that make you feel behind. The good ones let you set your own pace. When a sim starts nagging me to return every two hours, it goes.
If you're new to the genre, start slow and resist the urge to optimise everything. The point isn't efficiency — it's the small satisfying loop of tending something that grows a little each time you look.
